Needing Rabbit Advice
I loss one of my angora bunnies today. No idea what happened. He was fine this morning, and fine when my husband got home this afternoon. I went to check their food and water a little bit ago and found Patches dead in the corner. No outward signs of trauma, like he got beat up. They are 10 weeks old and were weaned from mamma buns over the last two weeks. They are eating a mixture of rabbit pellets, oats, flax, and bird seed mix; this is a recipe that I got from the lady who sold me my buck and doe - she's been raising many angoras for quite some time and uses this recipe to help prevent wool block. They have a mineral wheel and are also give orchard grass hay. I'm careful about not giving too many raw veggies and I've been told that this can upset their poor little tummies. Am I doing something wrong? Is this just a fluke incident? Everyone has seemed rambunctious and happy, so this was such a surprise.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about rabbits, but I am sorry to hear that you lost one of the little ones.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to get an angora bunny for spinning and as a company. Are you having better luck with them now?
ReplyDeleteMarisa - these are the first rabbits I've ever owned. I wasn't sure how I would feel about them initially, but I wanted them for the fiber. All I can say is that they quickly stole my heart! Their fiber is great to spin and mix with other fibers. And 'yes' everyone is doing just fine. Growing like bad weeks and spunky as ever. I just recently had a new rabbit hutch built for them. It's wonderful. It has two sides so I could separate males and females. They seem very happy. =)
